Wavetrac ABT LSD Built Differential for the BMW F87 M2, F80 M3 and F82 M4 replaces the factory electronic limited slip differential, which is known to be both aggressive in operation and prone to failure. In its place is the most technologically advanced ATB limited slip differential on the market, featuring patent-protected technology that delivers unmatched performance, durability, and consistency.

BMW F8X M cars are manufactured with a friction-welded ring gear and an electronically locking plate differential. This design can introduce challenges during installation, as the factory differential and ring gear must be precisely machined apart. Wavetrac has extensive experience with this process, having worked with welded BMW ring gears since their introduction in 2007.

Each pre-assembled exchange axle is supplied complete with:

1. Wavetrac ATB Limited Slip Differential
2. Genuine BMW ring gear bolts
3. New genuine BMW axle seals
4. Backlash setup to OEM tolerances
5. Precisely machined ring gear
6. Blanking plate for the factory E-LSD motor

You will need to specify differential oil separately. For this application, Motul Competition 75W-140 is recommended. The factory electronic limited slip differential must be coded out of the vehicle’s ECU. This can be carried out by Wavetrac in-house or by a suitably qualified specialist installer.

The exchange process is a simple two-step procedure:

1. Pay for the product along with the exchange deposit. Wavetrac will then dispatch the pre-assembled differential unit.
2. The exchange deposit will be refunded once a complete, usable axle is returned within 10 working days. Axles requiring repair or refurbishment, or those not in working order, will not qualify for a refund. The electronic motor must be removed prior to returning the axle, as it is not required.
